As a life long Trade Union activist (and always
will be) I have to agree with a lot of what Steve Nieman says.
In the UK I have been putting an ever ringing alarm
clock under the Trade Unions bed for the last 10 years in an attempt to wake
them up to the new world order of employee ownership, but they are not even
active let alone pro-active.
Out of a total of 2.5 million worker owners in the
UK, 0.75 million are Trade Unionists. While the T Us promote and advertise
every kind of financial service from Credit Cards to Pensions they totally
ignore employee ownership even though they have so many members involved in
it.
I know and recognise the positive steps taken by
the USWU in this field but they are a minority in the big picture of
things.
I feel that while ever the Trade Unions keep in
their contemptible slumber they can expect and deserve criticisms as
expressed by Steve
