MDRGN Inaugural Message

Dear Colleagues

Thank you for agreeing to participate in COG's new International
Mondragon Studies Association working group. As you will note, the
name of the group begs a question, in that as yet there is no
Association, but simply a conviction on my part that one is required.
It is my hope that the group will have the effect of drawing together
a sufficient number of people with an interest in Mondragon for
critical mass to be achieved and an organisation to be formalised.

Meanwhile, at the invitation of the people at the Kent State
University Capital Ownership Association, I have posted as a possible
basis for discussion the draft of a paper about Mondragon which I am
to deliver at their conference in Washington in October. COG's idea
is that the draft should remain available for scrutiny, comment,
queries and suggestion until - say - the end of July, when a revised
version would be prepared. Needless to say, it is not intended that
this process should in any way limit discussion. Other group members
may have completely unrelated lines of thought about Mondragon which
they wish to pursue, and should feel free to do so.

Meanwhile, I should add by way of apology that the draft paper in the
form in which it currently appears on the site has lost much of its
formatting in transmission - as will be seen from the differing type
sizes and lack of indentation - and COG expects to upload an rtf
version which I have now sent them shortly.

COG has also agreed to have a Spanish version of the draft paper
posted shortly, although, given that my only language is English,
discussion will need to be in English, at least until an
appropriately multi-lingual replacement for me as moderator can be
obtained.

Thanks again, and all good wishes, Race Mathews.
