[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index] Highlights of Chat and Next Meeting Date Feb. 8 or 9 5:00 PM EST
Dear Homesteaders:
We had our first on-line real time chat. The transcript will be
available
soon in the archives. The most substantive items we discussed were: 1)
revising SQPQ as enabling legislation for companies to pay some taxes in
stock and limiting the types of gov't largesse covered; 2) multiple
stakeholder boards; 3) accessing the concern about the WTO as a means of
developing our ideas in conjunction with a broader audience; 4) finding
ways to interest corporate directors in our concerns and incentivize them
to broaden ownership. ( If I have mangled or forgotten your idea, kindly
speak up by email.)
We'd like to hear from more of the silent Homesteaders. I would
particularly like to encourage Carla Dickstein and Julia Markus to send in
the copies they have of their proposals. I'd also like to encourage more
women to speak up in these forums. We need more concrete local and
regional proposals to look at. The current group of active discussants is
focusing largely on international and national policy. Yet, the greatest
activity in the real world seems to be taking place in local communities.
For those who could not make it due to blizzards and technical problems,
have no fear. We will meet again at 5:00 p.m. EST on Feb. 8 or 9. Please
let me know if either of these days is available or bad for you.
We especially missed Bob Stumberg, whose office was closed due to
blizzard, and his critique on SQPQ. Please let us know if you can make the
next meeting.
