[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index] Initiate Discussion/Multinational Corporations
Dear Member of the EOtrans Discussion Group: In this group, we will be discussing the broadening of employee ownership transnationally. Globalization has both positive and negative implications. Among the less desirable consequences have been the polarization of income and the increasing concentration of wealth. As the initial topic of discussion, I would like to solicit the group's input on employee ownership in the multinational or transnational corporations that have become powerful economic and political forces throughout the world. We understand that an increasing number of multinational corporations are now offering ownership shares to international employees as well as domestic ones. As a first step in this exercise, it would be helpful for the participants to share information and knowledge they may have regarding 1) which multinational corporations have employee ownership programs, 2) what form such ownership has taken, 3) what have been the motivating forces, and 4) existing legislation governing employee ownership in multinational corporations. >From there, perhaps we can go to a discussion of what the group thinks might be worthy of replication in other multinations. Responses should be directed to the EOtrans group at eotrans@cog.kent.edu. If you receive a message from another member of the group and "reply," your reply will go to everyone on the list. If you want to reply only to the individual who sent the message, please write their address on the "To:" line. The ongoing discussions in this and the other groups as well can be found in the COG website library at http://cog.kent.edu/library.html.
