While discussion of local currencies is admittedly a little off topic given the overall focus on ownership, I thought it worth presenting an example of something that can be and has been done to anchor economic activity within a community. To be honest, I have a feeling a local currency would be more effective in stimulating economic development in a poor community than Fed reforms, simply because it requires less technical expertise to take advantage of.
