Re: EOnation: Unions with EO experience

Dear Dr. Yates
Thank you for approaching Batelco Trade Union in Bahrain.

We do not have experience in EO yet.  However, there is a go ahead plan by the Bahrain government to implement this scheme.

Batelco (Bahrain Telecommunication Company) Trade Union is currently working together with the company's management in preparing an Employee Ownership Plan (EOP)  which we hope to complete by the end of this year.

The ministry of labour and social affairs also preparing a law that governs EO.

For further information, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Regards,
Faisal Ghazwan
Batelco Trade Union Chairman

EOnation: Unions with EO experience

Dear Friends,

It's been a while since we corresponded, but I'm hoping for your help now.  John and I are putting together a little handbook on employee ownership for the ILO, and it would be nice to include a partial list of unions that have employee-owner members or workers' cooperative members. Practitioners like to get together and exchange experiences directly, so we could facilitate that with this list.  The list doesn't have to be complete -- In my mind, having wide geographic coverage is more important than getting every union listed.

Here's my list so far from the U.S.
Aluminum, Brick and Glass Workers International Union (ABGW) now merged with  USWA; Association  of Airline Pilots of America (ALPA - United Airlines), Atlantic Communication and Technical Workers' Union (ACTWU); Graphic Communications International Union (GCIU) Independent Steel Workers; (independent union at Weirton); International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW),;  International Brotherhood of Teamsters; International Union of Electronic, Electrical, Salaried, Machine and Furniture Workers-Communications Workers of America. (IUE-CWA) International Association of Machinists (IAM –United Airlines), International Union of Operating Engineers; Sprinkler Fitters Local 669 (many branches of this union in many states) in United Association of Journeymen Plumbers, Gas Fitters, Steam Fitters and Steam Fitters;  United Auto Workers (UAW) (Chrysler), United Food and Commercial Workers Union (UFCWU – O&O grocery stores in Philadelphia, Rath Packing Co.); United Steelworkers !
(USWA - numerous)

Can you help me -- especially with unions in other countries? And any additions to my U.S. list are very welcome.

Thanks for any help you can give. Jacquelyn
